Successful co-parenting starts with a shared goal: helping your child feel safe, loved, and free to enjoy time with both parents. Before making a decision about a schedule, activity, or holiday, ask what will be manageable for your child rather than what feels most even to the adults.

Keep disagreements between adults, and avoid asking your child to carry messages or choose sides. You can acknowledge that a transition feels hard without criticizing the other parent: “It’s okay to miss me, and I’ll see you on Tuesday.”
